Firenze - Florence
6 hours drive from Slovenia via Ravenna. Less highway but more scenic part, especially the last 100 km. Firence is kind of a love at the first sight - charming, not to big, culture all around even if you are not really into it...Best:-Duomo - go to the dome, just 463 stairs and fantastic view, What else: Boboli garden, Old bridge, Leonardo da Vinci museum, galleria Uffizi....ice cream, pizza, some say florentine stake...
Sleeping: nice hostel in an old villa - Villa Camerata
A bit out of town but there is a city bus near don't cheat with bus tickets - there are often check outs! They also have a camping ground and camping is probably the cheapest option in town. I loved the big garden! For a bit of comfort you can take your own room.
SAN GIMIGNANO - the best of the old medieval towns with wall, actualy two of them surrounding the small city. And there are the towers, which used to show who is the most important in town... Lots of restaurants, shops, some museums. Try really good ice cream on the main square and go to the less visited streets - you will find another world! Like this simple Tuscan restaurant Dal Bertelli...
and ONLY Italian speaking owner, who makes sandwiches with two kind of organic salami and one kind of sheep cheese - but in an old tuscan style.. And the wine also comes from the region.
If you like sandy beaches than the perfect place to be is Punta Ala, south of Piombino. Natural gem with lots of forrest, pines, even cork oaks. Endless beaches with trees nearby is devoloped just around the tip of peninsula where is marina and lots of hotels. Mostly more expensive. If you are looking for luxury than Gallia Palace Hotel is the right answer! All the luxury of a 5* hotel is there + great outdoor swimming pool, real green oasis and nicely decorated rooms. The sea, as with all of the hotels in region, is some 5 min away. But you can use interesting shuttle - an old Fiat converted to an open roof van...
ELBA - Ferry is quite expensive compared to Sardinia or Corsica - but it takes just 1 hour from Piombino. BluNavy is the cheapest option.
Plenty of campings on the island, but also hotels. Mostly they are not big. Porto Azurro is a good place to stay - small town, one beach in the port and next 5 min by car, or 30 min on a nice coastal path. I stayed in Hotel Plaza - probably with the best view in town, and just a few houndred meters from the center, also with a small private beach!. Hotel has got a great terace on which you can get breakfast and navy theme rooms, even with the sails behind the bed...
There are more than 70 beaches - so easy to find one you like.Cavoli is nice, sandy but crowded. Not far is another gem Fetovaia. Barabarca is one of the best pebble beaches.
But island offers much more - endless paths for hiking, biking paradise, specialy around mont Calamita which is full of dirt roads due to the mines, which are closed since 1983. Sounds to difficult - than go to monte Capanne (1019 m) with a special gondola which looks like a bird cage! Real fun and the best view of the island from the top!
Island is also biking paradise - mountain bikers will find lots of dirt roads around Capoliveri - the village is also one of the most attractive in the interior. Lots of small shops, good restaurants, ice cream... Among the camping grounds I found for the best one camping village Roselba le palme. It is very green - the heart of the camping is an century old botanical garden. And if you dont have a tent, you can go glamping in theri tents, mobile homes or villas... It is some 400m from the sea, but they also have a great pool with slides and another one for children.
Camping lies between Portoferaio and Porto Azzuro.
MONTERIGGIONI z lepo ohranjenim mestnim obzidjem in obrambnimi stolpi.
Sardinijo (15 minut do pristanišča).

Možno jahanje konj in kopanje v bazenu.
Sredi pokrajine Chianti nad vinogradi nudi posebno zatočišče majhen obnovljen nekdanji samostan z zelo okusno opremljenimi apartmaji
http://www.rifugium.it/
