HUNGARY - MADŽARSKA

 tháng 7 19, 2011     No comments

Mako is a surprisingly interesting town in southeastern Hungary. Mainly thanks to the organic arhitect Imre Makovecz, who build some of his gems here. The most impresive (Beside kultural center and bus station) is thermal bath. Swiming among the unusuall parts of the building is a must!     http://hagymatikum.hu/hu/
Make sure to vist Maros river with the adrenaline park with a zip line across the river!
And one of the most famoust Hungarians was born here – journalist Joseph Pulitzer.(1847-1911)

Sopron, Balaton, Pecs, Eger are some of the places wort a visit beside Budapest. Watch out for other buildings of Makovecz (in Sopron, Eger, around Budapest...)!

Accommodation:
Balaton-Janus Atrium Hotel. The hotel is made up of 2 buildings connected with atriums-perfectly done - Rooms are something to rememeber-every of 29 is different decorated. There are at least some you will fall in love... But the choice in the summer is limited due to great demand. Pool and jakuzzi are great, decorated in egiptian style - a 5 star hotel wouldnt be ashamed-Try the 1oo1 night room.

Nice options are also youth hostels:

Hertelendy Kastely Hotel near village Kutas, some 80 km South-East from Balaton. Just perfect for a few days, everything is excellent, dont miss the sauna which is especially interesting in the night - relaxing in the water under the stars is unforgetable- and food is just a dream... If you can afford it it is worth!

Greenfield Hotel Golf & Spa in Buk Spa, Eastern Hungary:Nice surroundings with golf field and lots of walking trakes - also birds paradise with some lakes etc. Food is good, perhaps not so many options for a 5 star hotel. Pools are great and saunas excellent.

Eger is one of the small attractive towns in nort-eastern Hungary. With well preserved barock town center, vineyards and vine cellars makes an attractive stop. Also dont forget for the spas, especially the Salt hill, which is a natural wonder some 7 km out of town.

Hotel Romantik is perfectly located a few steps from the old town center of Eger. It has got nice and quiet rooms and an attractive garden. Breakfast is served in a spacious winter garden.

Castle Szirak in the village of the same name lies some 80 km nort-east of Budapest. It is well restored in a hotel with cosy historical rooms, a restaurant and a small museum. Some cheaper but ordinary rooms are available in the nearby buildings. Castle is also renowed for excelent spa treatmants and horse riding.

The main attraction in that area is village Holloko. Some 50 partly wooden houses represents tipical rural arhitecture and it is under Unesco protections. A tourist trap with souvenir shops and some museums, but worth a visit!

Hostel Ananas in Pecs has an attractive location – just between the old center of Pecs and Zsolnay cultural center. An old house is a real surprise from the inside – there is a big green garden, which is kind of luxury in Pecs. Rooms are nice, colorful painted and there is of course free internet… Owners (Hungary-Franch) are nice and very informative and good cooks – so do order a dinner to taste some local flavours.
