SINGAPORE

 tháng 1 26, 2017     No comments

Small but interesting butique country-much more than just a stop between flights! First time I just spend around 10 hours at the airport and I was not bored! There are so many interesting parts to visit: orhid gardens, fish ponds, small forrest, buterfly garden, movie room etc. Not to mention many shops and restaurants!

It is easy to get around - even with the airport train. Going to town is also easy as there are options by metro and bus. But for a bit of comfort it is good idea to take a taxi transfer. I had good experience with Book Taxi Singapore . I did the reservation a few weeks before my visit and everything went perfect. Drive to the city center was smooth, fast, the driver was very attentive giving us plenty information about Singapore and we easily found our reserved accommodation for a few days: Rucksack Inn , which is close to Little India.
The hostel is well organized so in a limited space they have created a great place for travelers of all ages. The lobby with reception also serves as a common room with computers to use and this is one of the places breakfast (toast, marmelade, butter...tea and coffee) is served in. The other one is on the first floor and there is a third option - roof terrace with a nice view and relaxing atmosphere on couches among some plants. We slept in a dorm with pod-style beds, which ensure privacy with curtains - great option! The rooms are air conditioned and super clean. The same goes for the bathrooms. They are quite spacious even with a place to do laundry an ironing. There is also room for luggage and guests could leave it there for several days if hey travel around. The personnel was great - attentive, with lots of knowledge about Singapore and ideas what to do.

There are lots of options for cheap meals in this part of town, close to Little India which is also full of shops with competitive prices. Not to mention picturesque temples.

Another interesting part of city is the Chinatown, just a short metro or bus ride away. Slightly more touristic and expensive but with a different apperience.

The super modern part of Singapore has got its own charm. Especialy the part around Marina Bay. Here are most of attractive colonial buildings and new architectual wonders from Marina Bay Sands resort to Gardens by the Bay.

One of the best possible views of that part of the city is from the water. And here comes very handy attractive tour with amphibian vehicle DUCK & HiPPO. Fun ride with a vehicle which used to serve in Vietnam!

The island Sentosa is a place which resambles to the best tropical beaches. The only outdraw are big ships on the horiziont, which are waiting to enter the port. The most comfortable and attractive access to the island is with cable car . It runs from Fiber Peak surrounded with recreational area through ! a skyscraper where is another station near MRT and across the sea to the island.  There is another cable car on Sentosa, which connects the most interesting parts from the Fort to Marlion.

Another lovely way to spend a day in Singapore is visiting the ZOO! Definitely one of the best in the world, with modern enclosures you almost don't see cages or bars. In some parts you could even experience close up meetings with different animals. Not only birds; at  the feeding time there are lemurs around, slots, flying bats, and at the breakfast even orangutans, which come near the restaurant!!! If you want to see more, there is a separate River safari experience where you can have some fun rides and get closer look to the life in the biggest rivers of the World.

And there is more: Night safari, where you can see how animals live after the sunset. Interesting visit on a slow train with all those jungle voices around.....
For a nostalgic touch you should vist the Raffles hotel. Iconic hotel was built at the beach in 1887. The sea is some houndred meters away today, but the road where the hotel stands is named Beach road. Luxury 5 star hotel has got everything that guest might desire - even more: a nostalgic touch in all carefully restored rooms, corridors, lobby, bars and restaurants. If you don't want to spend some hundred dollars for a room it is still worth to come for a diner (great curries) or at least for a drink: pink colored coctail Singapore sling has been served here from 1915. Not to mention nice tropical gardens and attractive boutiques in the hotel arcade.
